skills

I used to believe in skill level, I don't anymore. I now believe in constant development that gets driven by my curiosity.

Because the web industry is in constant change, it requires me to be in constant change too. Luckily, I'm eager to learn new things, which to me is the most important thing of all. Combining this with having an entrepreneurial spirit allows me to push my limits.

I'm currently way too curious when it comes to:

    • React
    • React Native
    • Vue
    • Angular
    • Node.js
    • GraphQL
    • NestJS
    • Serverless

My curiosity has already helped me with:

From transforming a design into a website, to creating a full-blown web app with user experience always kept in mind. You name it!
  • - Present
  • Lead Full-stack developer & DevOps in a fully AWS Cloud Native environment on global scale. Managing a fully serverless API and UI based platform that manages massive amounts of data from various different sources that need ad-hoc performance increases in a cost effecient way.

DevOps technologies include AWS Lambda, APIGateway, CloudFront, Route53, S3, SQS managed in an IaC-way with CloudWatch as a first-layer monitoring tool.

API mostly written in python as individual Lambda functions using database technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, DynamoDB to name a few

  • From childhood on, I have been assisting my parents in their company by selling products to customers and doing all of the needed preparations. The products they sell are candy and in particular nougat.
  • -
  • Full-stack developer & Scrum Master for a global, high load online real-time car auctioning platform. The main auctioning platform is backed by various micro-services written in Node.JS (NestJS & AWS Lambda) and .NET.

Web frontends are mainly React and Angular consuming shared webcomponents. Mobile applications such as a car inspection app are written in React Native.

    CI/CD with Azure.

  • -
  • Lead front-end developer & architect for a state of the art, high-tech hotel experience where everything is connected through Internet of Things. Gain access to your room from scanning your handpalm, control the lights or blinds in your room with an app.

Various connected software and hardware includes a Property Management System (PMS), Booking engine, Room-control, Profile management, etc..

Most software is created with Angular (advanced RxJS and NGRX) & React (hooks) in a mono-repository for maximum reuse, being deployed through CI pipelines in Azure.

  • -
  • Lead developer & architect for 3 different applications with the most complex one being an airfreight tracking solution used by Damco (part of Maersk) among others.

It's a Vue-based front-end using Vuex with a Node.js backend using NestJS and MongoDB, in combination with websockets and GraphQL across different timezones.

We modularised as much as possible so that features could be reused between projects.

  • Front-end developer working on the automation of email marketing campaigns within the AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) platform developed on an earlier project (see below).
  • -
  • Lead front-end developer creating a heavily form-based Angular (2+) + NGRX (redux for Angular) application for migrating sensitive data to a centralised Belgian Government database.
  • -
  • All around Web Agency, heavily active within the horse jumping sector. I was the lead front-end developer and primarily worked on creating a full-featured custom Angular (2+) based CMS with E-commerce.
  • -
  • Mediahuis has various newspapers across Belgium and The Netherlands. All of these newspapers require applications to manage various subscriptions.
  • -
  • Front-end developer and Scrum Master, developing the Bose.com platform which runs 35 different e-commerce websites across the world. Working in a large team that's spread all over the world getting everyone involved aligned.
  • -
  • Getting physical shops into an online world by providing an extensible loyalty platform, providing methods of payment and appreciation towards the customer. I joined as a front-end developer during the startup phase, but quickly combined this with product management and customer service.
  • -
  • Having both local and international clients, a flexible approach has always been necessary. I primarily took care of front-end development and user experience, but because of the needed flexibility and interest, I usually helped out with whatever I could!
  • -
  • Short project for which a user experience had to be designed for a mobile car-selling application. Part of the project was to develop a working prototype that would also work on legacy blackberry phones as the application would be launched in South Africa. I was part of a team of 8 in which I was the lead developer.

  • Internship: The Inventis team does a yearly sports challenge. They were still in need of a website which had to be a collection of all the challenges ever done and still to be done. Using the custom Inventis CMS, I wrote a theming system and some additional modules to use in the backend. This way the theme, content and participants could be adjusted for each challenge. I was supposed to only develop the front-end of a desktop version of the template I got from the designer. Instead, I used some assets from the desktop version, created a mobile-friendly template and built a responsive front-end using a mobile first approach.

Strong points

I'm a self-taught developer, able to quickly adapt and eager to learn new technologies.

Being passionate about what I do, combined with having an entrepreneurial spirit allows me to push my limits and constantly explore new things. It's all in the details and about the user / developer experience! Because of this, I am able to easily take actions myself.

It's not always about work, there also has to be room for an occasional drink and gaming session!
